The Delta-Mendota Canal has over 50 farm bridges that cross over the canal over the 116 mile stretch.  These farm bridges were installed so that farm equipment could cross from one side of the canal to the other.  The farmers use the bridges frequently and the heavy equipment wear down the traffic strips.  Both the Tracy and Los Banos canal maintenance crews replace the traffic strips as needed.
