USBR submits plan to raise Shasta dam

The Bureau of Reclamation submitted to Congress a final report on a proposal to raise Shasta dam on July 29. The plan would have helped to meet an important and urgent need for additional surface water storage in California.

Additional surface storage during this most recent drought cycle would have benefited salmon protection, Delta water quality, and millions of Californians suffering the impacts of drought exacerbated by regulation.

While further work remains to be done, the Authority is committed to pursuing cooperative and constructive progress on surface water storage.
